Our History

Our club started out in 1998 as the 'Roseland Observatory' in preparation for viewing the Cornish eclipse, but in 2005 it moved to Brannel School and became 'Brannel Astronomy'.

In 2011, following the rebuild of Brannel School, the club was offered improved meeting facilities at St Columb Major Academy and so from early 2012 all activities were transferred to St Columb and this prompted the name change to Kernow Astronomers.

In 2022 the club moved to Summercourt New Memorial Hall as a result of difficulties using school facilities after the pandemic.

The hall in Summercourt offers a comfortable and spacious meeting place for our regular meetings, with the possibility of using a nearby outside hard-standing area as an excellent dark observing site.
